HOOPP, one of ICPM’s Research Partners in Canada, recently released their 2023 Canadian Retirement Survey, which polled 2,000 Canadians on their attitude, behaviour and preparedness when it comes to retirement savings.

Noteworthy results include:

  • 44% of the non-retirees among the 55-64 age group have less than $5,000 in savings and 75% have $100,000 or less in savings
  • One in five workers in this age group say they have not set aside anything for retirement
  • More than half (54%) in this age group said that if inflation continues to rise, they will need to push out their target retirement date
